Clackmannanshire's Award Winners  Bookmark and Share

The Provost of Clackmannanshire hosted a joint Award Ceremony in Alva Academy on Thursday 25th February 2010 to recognise the dedication and commitment that local people and groups make to help improve the quality of life in Clackmannanshire.

There are six different categories of awards. Winners are listed below each category:

Citizen of the Year - sponsored by the Lord Lieutenant's Trust. Awards to 9 finalists sponsored by Orange, Glencairn Crystal and Diageo

  • Sandra Gruar, Sauchie - developed Sauchie Active 8 programme

Junior Sports Personality of the Year, sponsored by the Wee County News
  • Kathryn Gillespie - athletics
Senior Sports Personality of the Year, sponsored by Alloa & Hillfoots Advertiser
  • Joanne Eccles - Wee County Vaulters
Team of the Year, sponsored by Russel & Aitken
  • Clackmannanshire Special Olympic Team who participated in the 2009 National Special Olympics GB Summer Games and brought home 31 medals
Triumph over Adversity, sponsored by Machin Associates
  • Claire Robertson - swimming and gymnastics
Services to Sport - sponsored by SALSC
  • Colin McLaren and Alan Harper - Tullibody Wrestling Club
Enid Barton Coach of the Year Award
  • William Gardiner - coach to Alloa Saints U10 football team

Provost Stewart said that "I have especially enjoyed celebrating the achievements of local young people. All the Citizens of the Year nominations have shown a lifelong dedication to others in their community and have made Clackmannanshire a better place to live, not just for themselves, but for all those around them."
