Community Wardens
Introduction
Clackmannanshire's Community Warden service was established in 2004 to respond to the community safety and anti-social behaviour needs of residents and businesses in the county.
Working with our partner agencies, we aim to tackle anti-social behaviour, deter crime and help residents to feel safer as they go about their daily business.
What do the Community Wardens do?
The Community Warden team
- work at the grass roots and act as additional 'eyes and ears' assisting in crime prevention and reducing fear of crime;
- patrol residential estates and town centres throughout Clackmannanshire on foot, by bicycle or in vehicles providing
- a high visibility presence;
- a friendly, approachable contact within the community to discuss any concerns about the local environment;
- reassurance to both residents and business people;
- the opportunity to identify potential issues and either deal with them directly or report them to the appropriate agency.
- take rapid action on vandalism, graffiti, litter and dog fouling;
- become involved in youth groups and meet young people to build a constructive dialogue;
- play a part in improving community's quality of life and making neighbourhoods a better place to live.
Hours of Operation
- Monday to Wednesday: 0800 - 2200 hrs
- Thursday to Saturday: 1600 - 2400 hrs
- Sunday: 1200 - 2000 hrs
How do they work with other agencies?
Along with police officers, the Wardens provide heightened visibility giving the community, particularly vulnerable residents, reassurance.
The Wardens work in partnership with established community groups to assist people where possible, provide advice or direct questions to the appropriate agency in a bid to address local issues.
We work closely with the Council’s housing and environmental officers as well as Ochil View and Paragon Housing Association staff. Members of the Clackmannanshire Anti-Social Behaviour, Liaison and Mediation Team (CALM) also play a vital role. This team was set up to complement the work carried out by local housing offices and deal with the most extreme cases of anti-social behaviour on Council housing estates and also provides a full mediation service to help resolve neighbour disputes.
Through identifying and meeting community needs, we have been able to build rapport and create a trusting relationship with the local community.
