Clacks Youth Timebank

Clacks Youth Timebank involves young people ages 12 - 24 years in volunteering activities and improves youth volunteer opportunities.

Timebank involves young people in creating and managing their own volunteer projects, encouraging them to take part in the wider life of the community. It encourages and supports youth-led community action.

How does it work?

Young people involved in the Timebank gain a time credit for every hour that they do voluntary work.

What do you do to gain credits?

1 hour of voluntary work equals 1 hour of time credits, for example, if a community project takes 10 hours to plan and 4 hours to carry, 14 credits will be earned.

If an outing/activity is to last for 4 hours, 4 time credits are needed to attend.

Members are not normally allowed to go into debit, but on occasions this may be arranged for specific activities.

Time broker

Clackmannanshire Council employ two members of staff to manage the Timebank database.

What can credits be spent on?

Launch of pilot

The Clacks Youth Timebank was launched in June 2007 by Clackmannanshire Youth Council and is supported by Clackmannanshire Council's Youth Services and the National Youth Timebank.
