Noise Issues
Noisy music or parties can be distressing for neighbours, particularly late at night. The Community Wardens and our partners, Central Scotland Police receive complaints of this nature and work with residents to resolve these issues.
Noise Team
Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils also operate a joint Out of Hours Noise Team, which operate from 8.00 pm - 3.00 am Thursday to Saturday evenings. They respond to complaints of excessive noise, and where people refuse to comply with requests to keep the noise level down, fixed penalty notices of £100 can be issued. Further non-compliance can lead to confiscation of equipment and fines of up to £1000.
The modern fashion for laminate and hardwood flooring in place of carpet can result in impact noise (footsteps, dropped items etc) travelling into the floor. These noises can quickly become an annoyance for downstairs neighbours, often without the upper property being aware of it. Although an attractive alternative to carpet, laminate is not recommended for every type of property.
More information on this topic can be found on the Scottish Government's Noise and Nuisancepage.
