Tullibody Lych Gate and "Haer Stane" War Memorial

Tullibody War Memorial montage (Ref UKNIWM 44720 - top, UKNIWM 44721 - bottom)

View location map

This site comprises a level, narrow 1.9 acre park with timber and stone lych gate entrance to the east and meandering path to the memorial approximately 150 metres away towards the west end. The land is mainly grass covered with many mature trees throughout the site which is bounded generally by railings or fencing.

The lych gate comprises a plain stone base with open timber framing above with a hipped rosemary tile roof. There are various motifs carved into the central timber uprights at low level and to the fascia beam at high level.

The memorial comprises a massive irregular boulder with a rough hewn rectangular pillar on top with raised Celtic style cross carved to the front face. There is a small oval bronze plaque fixed to the base of the boulder with a brief inscription.
