Economic Briefing

The Research and Information Team have produced an Economic Briefing with key statistics at Clackmannanshire level with comparisons to the Scottish average. This page will be updated on a monthly basis as information becomes available.

Unemployment

Figures released in September 2009 show the claimant count unemployment rate in Clackmannanshire as 6.1% (Scotland 4.7%). Since 1999, the claimant count unemployment rate for Clackmannanshire has increased by only 0.6 - much faster the fall for Scotland as a whole.

Employment and Jobs

In Clackmannanshire, 74% of working age people are economically active, this compares to the Scottish average of 79.7%.

Compared to Scotland, in Clackmannanshire there are a higher percentage of jobs in Public and Other Services 41%(Scotland 36%) and a lower percentage in Finance and Business 11% (Scotland 19%).
