Equality and Diversity
Clackmannanshire Council believes that equality of opportunity should be a guiding principle in all of its activities. The Council is actively working towards the elimination of Policies and Practices which discriminate. It is opposed to any form of discriminatory practices on grounds including:
- gender
- gender reassignment
- marital status
- pregnancy, maternity
- religious belief
- disability
- race
- ethnic origin
- colour
- nationality
- political belief
- sexual orientation
- socio-economic status
- age
We are actively working towards the elimination of all discriminatory practices and will develop training and monitoring strategies to ensure that the Policy is embedded in all Council services and in the organisations we fund.
Legal Framework
The Council is committed to adhering to the principles of domestic legislation as presented in the following Acts:
Equality Act 2010
Outlaws discrimination in employment on the grounds of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin), sexual orientation, religion or belief or because someone is married or in a civil partnership.
The Equality Act outlaws discrimination by those providing goods and services on the grounds of disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity (which includes breastfeeding), race, religion or belief sex and sexual orientation.
