Health of the Population
The Performance and Partnership Support team have extracted some key facts from the Director of Public Health's Annual Report. This relates to the health of the population in Forth Valley and at Clackmannanshire level for the period 2008 to 2010.
Main Points:
- Clackmannanshire had the highest rate (62.1) in Forth Valley for live births and highest rate (6.5) for stillbirths, per 1,000 women aged 15-44, as at 31 March 2009. (figures exclude home births and non-NHS hospitals)
- Oral health - 73.2% of primary 1 children and 68.7% of primary 7 children have no obvious dental tooth decay, indicating that Forth Valley have met the 2010 national targets for these age groups.
- Coronary heart disease - the age-standardised mortality rate (for the under 75s) continues to fall in Forth Valley, from 130.6 per 100,000 in 1995 to 51.5 year ending 31 December 2008. This reflects the national trend and exceeds the target set in 1995 of a 60% reduction by 2010.
