Housing, Property and Benefit Advice Service

John Gillespie,
Head of Housing, Property &
Benefit Advice
The Housing Service performs the full range of landlord and strategic housing functions. As a landlord, the Council manages a housing stock of approximately 5,000 homes for rent. The quality of this housing stock is well above average, the rent levels and outstanding debt well below average. The Council therefore faces the changing national policy context with confidence.
Strategic housing functions range from delivery of the Local Housing Strategy, including the Homelessness and Supporting People strategies, housing input into other corporate strategies, and direct provision of Homelessness services, private sector improvement and repair grants, and Housing Occupational Therapy/Adaptation services for all tenures.
