County has Five Star Loo
Thursday 5th December 2002
Locals and tourists caught short in Alva can pop into the 'loo' at the Cochrane Park for some five star treatment.
Yes once again the 'loo' at the Cochrane Park has scooped a massive five stars for its high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and helpful staff.
And more of the County's public loos have been judged as providing high quality facilities in the 2002 Cannon Hygiene Scottish Loo of the Year competition with a further five loos all receiving fantastic four star awards.
Donald Balsillie, Convener of the Enterprise and Environment Committee said: "Once again our public toilets have been judged to be among the best in Scotland. This is a wonderful achievement for the county as a whole. It's good to know that we are providing top class facilities for local people and of course visitors to the area.
"Year on year our local toilets consistently come out on top and that's all down to the attendants who take care of the local facilities. Only last year the service was awarded Investors in People status. This national award if given to organisations who can demonstrate a real commitment to staff in terms of effective procedures in staff development.
"It's good to see the staff rewarded once again for providing high quality services."
The Loo of the Year Awards are recognised as the standard-setter for public washroom management. Loos are awarded stars for their signage, accessibility, décor, equipment and fixtures and most importantly, their cleanliness, overall management and customer care.
There are seven public conveniences in the area - six staffed and one unstaffed in Dollar.
