Youth Set to Shine
Wednesday 13th June 2012
It's summer and we hope the sun will be shining once again on Alloa's biggest and best youth festival.
The Big Buzz is returning this year to West End Park on Saturday 30th June. Entry to the event is free and open to all ages. It will run from 2pm to 7pm on the day.
Staff at Clackmannanshire Council's Youth Services and Sports development along with young people from the local area are putting the finishing touches to what looks like a great programme once again.
Education, Sport and Leisure Committee Convenor, Councillor Ellen Forson, said: "It is an event which has proved popular in the past and is sure to attract a terrific response from the people in Clackmannanshire.
"Youth Services have put together an excellent and varied programme of events with something for everyone. I would encourage as many people as possible to come out and support the youth of our community."
Some of the main attractions on the day will be Silent Disco, Pipe Bands, Bike Skills, Cheerleading, Venture Trust, Belly Dancing, Martial Arts, Street Artists, Assault Course, Gymnastics, Olympics, Wrestling, Young Scot, African Dancers and Musicians, Hand Painting and lots of stalls. People will also be able to take The Cube challenge on the day.
As if all that wasn't enough, some local DJ's and bands will step on stage from 4.30pm to rock the park through to the end of the event. These include The Underdogs, No More Idols, The Passengers.
There is also an opportunity for local groups and voluntary organisations to get involved if they are keen to have a stall to show off their work or do bit of fundraising.
The previous Big Buzz events have proven extremely successful and it looks like the line-up for this year will prove just as just as exciting.
Councillor Forson added: "It is sure to be a wonderful event with the whole community given the opportunity to not just show of their skills and talents, but also raise some money for worthwhile causes. But above all it should be terrific fun for everyone."
