What to consider before starting consultation work
Prior to starting consultation work, you should consider the following:
- What is the purpose of the consultation/what do you want to achieve?
- Are there other service areas that are currently/previously consulting on the same/similar issues? (Check consultation database for information).
- What resources do you have available, eg staff time and financial resources?
- Do you have access to the necessary skills?
- Who will analyse the data?
- Who do you want to consult with (target group)?
- What is the best method for consulting with your target group?
- When is the best time to carry out the consultation? Avoid holiday periods or period leading up to Christmas.
- What advice can the Research and Information team give you?
