The Euro
The Euro (€) is the official currency of the European Union, used in 17 member states, known collectively as the 'Eurozone'.
The Euro was adopted by:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Cyprus
- Estonia
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Ireland
- Italy
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- The Netherlands
- Portugal
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- Spain
Travellers and business trading between these countries will no longer need to exchange currencies, leading to cost savings and allowing greater transparency of prices throughout. Travellers and businesses trading between the UK and these countries will have to exchange £ for €.
