Clackmannanshire Field Studies Society
The CFSS was formed in October 1970 after attempting to revive the Alloa Society of Natural Science and Archaeology established in 1865. The Society has over 130 members and its aim is
To promote interest in the environment and heritage of the local area.
In winter there are fortnightly lectures dealing with varying topics, from September to April, beginning with a coffee morning and concluding with our AGM.
In summer, from May to September, there are four Saturday outings, a Spring weekend event and fortnightly Wednesday Evening Walks.
CFSS has run and participated in various events e.g. Industrial Archaeology, David Allan, local Artist 1744-1796. It has associated with the Forth Naturalist and Historian of Stirling University in publishing, and with the annual Man and the Landscape symposium.
