Clax Youth Theatre

Clax Youth Theatre was set up in March 2007 when a group of young people with various drama backgrounds came together at a Creative Links meeting.
It was decided that a theatre group should be set up for young people in Clackmannanshire to participate in productions regardless of their experience.
Young people will be given the opportunity and training to be involved in all of the aspects of a production, e.g.
- directing
- stage management
- technical
- publicity etc
The group is also keen not to charge a fee, and at the moment are looking into funding to support their future plans.
Writer in Residence, Tom Murray, supports the group attending the weekly sessions. Some weeks he leads script writing workshops and/or creative writing. Last year the group worked closely with Tom to devise their very own script which was performed at Lornshill Theatre in February 2008. One audience member said "I was impressed that it wasn't just a standard play about teenage problems, it handled more mature issues".
Recently, the group are worked towards a production based around "Cafe Life".
Photographs are available showing various youth arts activities in the ClacksWeb Galleries section.
