Gartmorn Dam Fishery

Located within Gartmorn Dam Country Park, you can experience first class angling for brown and rainbow trout, at this well stocked 167 acre water.
Bank angling is permitted around the shoreline, this compliments the nine boats which can accommodate from one to three people, giving access to most areas of the water.
Now a recognised "Troutmaster" water, we are participating in the 2009 Troutmaster Competition.
2009 also sees the start of our fourth season of our "Back to Brown Trout" programme. The last three seasons have seen a massive shift from 6% to 57% of fish caught in favour of brown trout.

Fishery Report - 29/06/09
Fish are still active in the surface layer but if the forecasters are proved correct and we have a heatwave then be prepared to go deeper. Caddis larvae, shrimp and water boatmen are abundant in our water so give the imitative patterns a try and you may well be rewarded with a good basket.
Fly patterns proving successful have included Wickhams Fancy, Blae n Black, Cock y Bhondy, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Hares Ear, Diawl Bach, Cinnamon and Gold, Olive Nymph, Soldier Palmer and Damsel Nymphs.
If you are unsure of anything concerning tackle, fly pattern, method or which area to fish then please feel free to consult our fishery keepers who will be happy to help.
