We are very fortunate to have an excellent 'line-up' of speakers for the spring lecture series and we hope that we will have a good attendance.

These events are also posted in the ClacksWeb events diary.

Alia Campbell, Archivist, Diageo, Local History from a Global Archive
  • Date: Wednesday 10th February
  • Time: 7.30 pm
  • Venue: Tommy Downs Room, Alloa Town Hall

Alia Campbell, who is one of the Archivists at Diageo in Menstrie, will talk generally about Diageo and its Archive. She will then focus on the history of the local distilleries, particularly those at Cambus, Carsebridge and Glenochil, and their records, which will be of great interest and bring back memories for those who worked there.

Finally, she will look at some of Diageo's famous brand collections, concentrating on Scotch and on Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd and James Buchanan & Co Ltd, two great whisky houses which have their roots in Central Scotland.

Alia Campbell is a qualified Archivist and Records Manager. She studied social and business history and worked for Angus Council Museum Services, before becoming an Archivist.

At Diageo her responsibilities are predominantly based around preserving the collections of famous Scotch brands such as Bell's, Buchanan's and J&B Rare, as well as distillery collections.

The great tradition of distilling in Clackmannanshire means that this fascinating illustrated talk is sure to be of interest to many people.
