Public Art

The Scottish Government has awarded the county Pathfinder Status: National Model of Good Practice for our exploration of Cultural Entitlement. Our Pathfinder status makes Clackmannanshire a cultural leader in setting high national standards.
With the financial assistance of the Scottish Government, Scottish Arts Council and others, the Council is currently providing opportunities for over fifteen artists of local, national and international reputation to work with local residents to explore their creativity and collaborate with other partners and artists in public art projects of a broad and innovative nature.

Artists were invited to register their interest by 5th June in a glass commission opportunity for the new Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre which is due to open later this year.

Roundels by Sandor Dobany and Glasgow School of Art Students
This project was commissioned by Carronvale Homes in association with the Council, and the roundels were installed at The Grange in Alloa in June 2008 (an image of one of the roundels is featured at the top of this page).
Two of the circular mosaics were created by internationally renowned Hungarian porcelain artist, Sandor Dobany. Sandor then tutored second and third year ceramic art students through a design competition to win the chance to create the other three ceramics.
