Wee County Vaulters

Following its success at the final British Equestrian Vaulting Selection Trial, the Wee County Vaulters Junior Team has become the first club team to be selected to represent G.B. at the European Junior Team Vaulting Championships. Hannah Eccles will also represent G.B. at the European Championships in the Individual class.

The World Senior Vaulting Championships will be run at the same time as the Junior European Championships in Brno, Czech Republic. Joanne Eccles again from Wee County Vaulters will participate in the Individual Senior class.
The Wee County Vaulters had to beat off strong competition from the rest of G.B. at the Selection Trial which was held in Wales last weekend. Having taken the lead in the first round, Joanne continued to increase her advantage in the second round. Hannah having finished the first compulsory round in second place performed a stunning freestyle which put her into first place. She then continued to hold on to the lead during the second round.

In the Junior Team class, the Wee County Vaulters team was in the lead after the compulsory round. The team then performed two very secure freestyles which saw its lead increase. The Wee County team was made up of Andrew McLachlan, Yasmin Williamson, Joscelin Craig, Helen Anderson, Brogan Moffat, Rebecca Norval and Cassie McIlwraith. The Team along with Joanne and Hannah vaulted on W.H. Bentley lunged by John Eccles. In the non selection classes Wee County again picked up several prizes. Joanne and Hannah won the pairs class vaulting on W.H. Bentley, lunged by Amanda McLachlan.

Joscelin Craig and Helen Anderson were 1st and 2nd respectively in the Under 18 individual class with Karen Hewitt 4th in the over 18 Individual class. The aforementioned all vaulted on Tylers Kernel lunged by John Eccles. The junior team along with Hannah took first place in the Walk Team class with a theme of St. Trinians. The team competed on Tylers Kernel and was lunged by Amanda McLachlan. The race is now on to raise the necessary funds to transport the horses to the Czech Republic for the competition at the end of July.
