Biodiversity

The first Clackmannanshire Biodiversity Action was produced in 2003 and we are now in the process of producing a new one. The draft Plan will be considered by the Council's Executive Committee on the 26th January 2012. If approved, the document will be made available for public consultation later in the year. Further datails about the consultation and how you can respond will be posted here when they are available.
The production of this plan has been instrumental in maintaining and enhancing habitats and species within Clackmannanshire through focussed local action. In addition, the plan promotes increased awareness of local biodiversity in the communities of Clackmannanshire. The Clackmannanshire Biodiversity Action plan is currently being reviewed.
Biodiversity is the total variety of life on Earth. It includes all species and habitats from vast oceans and forests to wee ants and plants, and it includes us! Biodiversity provides us with products like food and clothing, services like the absorption of carbon dioxide, medicines and beautiful creatures and landscapes. Biodiversity is important for our daily lives therefore it is essential, both now and in the future, that we protect our local biodiversity.
