Litter and the Law
£50.00 fixed penalty notices can be issued by Council officers to anyone dropping litter in the street.
Any unpaid fixed penalties will be pursued through the Court.
The Environmental Protection Act 1990 Part IV brought in laws to get Britain clean, particularly our streets and public open spaces.
It made it a duty for all landowners both public and private to keep their land clear of rubbish.
The act of littering became a more serious offence.
The Keep Scotland Beautiful website provides a lot of useful information and support.
