Muckhart Conservation Area
The Muckhart conservation area was designated in 2005. It is based on the spine of the A91 through the settlement and extends from the church and churchyard in the east to the Coronation Hall in the west.
The conservation area forms the historic core of the settlement and excludes 'modern' development that have extended the settlement to the north, south and west of the A91. The area is characterised by traditional cottages with the important public buildings of the Parish Church and the Coronation Hall providing visual high points on the extremities of the conservation area.
Appraisal
Clackmannanshire Council has produced a consultative draft appraisal for the Muckhart Conservation Area. The document identifies the characteristics and key elements which contribute to the special historic and architectural character of the area. It will serve as supplementary planning guidance to the Development Plan and guide the Council in making planning decisions. Additionally, it will provide a basis for the development of an action programme compatible with sensitivities of the conservation area.
Consultation on this draft ended in May 2009. A revised appraisal for the Muckhart Conservation Area is currently being prepared.
