Water Quality
Scottish Water is the Authority responsible for supplying domestic water to all properties connected to the public main and for taking away waste water by means of the public sewer. Not all properties are connected to the public system and if you are not served by Scottish Water, please see our separate section on Private water Supplies for more information.
If you have a complaint concerning the water you get from the public supply you should contact Scottish Water on 0845 601 8855 or you can view the Scottish Water Code of Practice. This will give you the information you need to make a complaint and how to follow it up with the Water Industry Commissioner for Scotland if you’re dissatisfied with the outcome.
Businesses should contact Scottish Water on 0845 602 8855 or visit the commercial section of Scottish Water's website for more information on the services available. Environmental Health does sample water from the mains supply when it is used in food production businesses. This is part of the food safety function of the Council and not is part of a routine check of Scottish Water.
The Council does carry out routine sampling of Clackmannanshire’s water supply sources at Glendevon and Turret.
Lead Pipes
If you are worried or concerned about contamination of your drinking water with lead from lead pipes, you should contact the Council’s Housing Department, Housing Grants Section on 01592 452384 for further information. Grant aid may be available to help towards replacing these pipes.
