Wind Turbines at Forthbank
Clackmannanshire Council and Partnership for Renewables are working together to investigate the possibility of siting four wind turbines on Alloa's former landfill site as part of the Council's drive to reduce carbon emissions.
The proposal, which was detailed in our report entitled Erection of Wind Turbines, was approved by Council in December 2008 and the development has the potential to generate enough green energy to power 5000 households.
Having carried out and borne the cost of extensive feasibility work, including a bird survey of the nearby wetlands area, and the erection of a wind monitoring mast on the site, Partnerships for Renewables hopes to submit a planning application for a four-turbine wind energy project in the autumn of 2010.
Public consultation
The local community have been consulted and involved throughout the development process.
Community fund
If the development goes ahead, a community fund receiving an annual payment will be established. The fund would be administered by representatives of the local community to be spent in a way that the community sees fit.
Further information
More information about the proposal can be found at the Partnership for Renewables (PfR) website.
