Athletics
Athletics is a priority sport for Clackmannanshire Council and we place a focus on the targets of the Scottish Athletics''Developing Performance Strategy' in order to have a positive impact on athletics in Clackmannanshire.
The local focus is on four key areas:
- Improving access to participate at every level;
- Developing athletes and people;
- Supporting and developing coaches, officials and volunteers;
- Improving standards to the highest level possible.
Athletics Clubs
Central Athletic Junior Club
If you have tried school sessions or the StarTrack holiday programme, this club is a great place to find out if athletics is for you. The club provides the opportunity to further your skills before moving onto the Central Athletics Club.
Classes run from September to June, running in 3 x 10 week blocks, and are available to 5 - 14 year olds. The Aviva Shine Awards monitors progress of each athlete with everyone receiving a certificate to show personal development.
During the Easter and Summer holidays, StarTrack weeks are available and these can be booked four weeks before Easter and Summer.

Central Athletic Club
The Central Athletic Club is one of the largest athletics clubs in Central Scotland and the premier club in the Stirling and Clackmannanshire areas. The Club has a proud history of team and individual success including a number of Scottish champions, record holders and internationalists who have developed from the grass roots of the club.
The club provides coaching and competition throughout the year across a variety of events including
- Track & Field (April-September)
- Indoor League (November-March)
- Cross Country (October-March)
- Road Running (March-October)
- Hill Running (March-October)
In order to enable athletes to achieve their goals, the Club and the Council advise all new athletes aged under 12 years to enter the club through the 'run, jump and throw' sessions organised by Sports Development.

Wee County Harriers
Wee County Harriers is a running club based in Alloa. The club train for all running distances, cater for all categories of runners and also hold numerous social events. Whether you want to train for road running, hills or cross country, this club welcomes you to discover the joy of running.

Calendar of Events for Children
A selection of races that can be viewed online at the Scottish Athletics website. The Scottish Schools Championships take place on Saturdays throughout the year which children can enter.
