Cycle Training Assistant
The Scottish Executive funds Scottish Cycling whose aim is to encourage use of bicycles as vehicles.
Cycling Scotland deliver Cycle Training (often called Cycling Proficiency) to Primary School pupils.
Those who wish to deliver this training to Primary School pupils require to hold the Cycle Trainer Assistant award (introduced in 2011).
This programme is a 1 day training course and focuses on Level 1 and Level 2 National competencies (ie balance and control and core manoeuvres at a T junction).
There are prepared sets of lessons (rebranded Bikeability 1 and Bikeability 2) and the course provides an opportunity to train in how to deliver them.
A one day training programme for teachers, sports co-ordinators, PE teachers or parents explains the competencies in a practical way and qualifies attendees with the Cycle Trainer Assistant Award.
Training dates for 2012
- 25th May: Fee to be confirmed (may be fully funded by Cycling Scotland)
- Other dates are being arranged
