Football Coaching

Football gameClackmannanshire's Sports Development provides lots of opportunities for children of all ages and abilities to get themselves involved in football within the community, whether it be going to soccer centres, helping a child find a team, or playing with your friends against other teams.

Football Development provides various classes and are taught by experienced and SFA approved coaches who endorse Positive Coaching Scotland that will help improve the individual with their football skills and knowledge in a safe, fun environment.

Soccer Centres

Soccer centres are put on by Football Development throughout the year within Clackmannanshire to give children between 5 to 13 yrs the opportunity to participate and get a taste of football in a fun and safe environment, whilst giving them a chance to express their football skills.

They are coached by qualified SFA coaches who work to develop and improve their skills. The sessions are progressively structured to allow children to advance and improve at their own rate.

Bank of Scotland Midnight Leagues

The SFA, via our national network of community officers, provide a programme of five and six aside football leagues for players aged from 12 to 16 years.

Midnight League programmes are free to attend on Fridays. Players can attend individually or can arrange to enter their own teams. National competitions are run yearly in June and August. In addition there are prizes for the winners of the groups at the end of the year.

McDonalds Programme

This programme was introduced into primary schools in 2002 with McDonalds being the main sponsor. The SFA put the programme together which is now delivered to schools by a qualified football coach who has been trained on delivering the content from the SFA curriculum.

Every year for a 20 week block a coach is delegated to a primary school to deliver the programme and educate the children on football and healthy living by filling out log books and researching information in class. At the moment 12 local schools are participating in the programme, and over 500 schools throughout Scotland take part every year.

Soccer One

The National Plan for Youth Football Development 'Soccer One' project launched in August 2006 for S1/S2 pupils is playing a significant role in the push to get more secondary school youngsters back playing football.

In its first year, (season 2006/07), Soccer One was introduced to three local authorities - Edinburgh, Glasgow and North Lanarkshire with a total of 111 new boys and girls teams being created.

Season 2007/08 saw the project rolled into Clackmannanshire with Alva, Lornshill and Alloa Acadamies all taking part in the scheme, and every second week the schools participate against each other. In between games, structured lessons are given to develop players.

Young Wasps

This soccer centre is unique within Clackmannanshire due to the fact that the training is held at Alloa Athletic's Recreation Park.

Those joining receive a membership card giving free entry into home league games. Members also receive a Birthday/Christmas card from the club and discounts on pitch hire and club shop.
