New Secondary Schools
Three new schools offering state of the art facilities to pupils and staff will open within the next two years, transforming the country's secondary school estate.
Construction work is ongoing and as it progresses members of the community can look forward to the day when they will also benefit from the excellent new facilities on their doorstep including meeting and performance areas and sports facilities. The new schools are being funded through a PPP (Public Private Partnership) and being built by the Clackmannanshire Schools Education Partnership.
The new Alloa Academy, incorporating Fairfield Secondary Special School, is being built on land next to Alloa Family Centre. The new Alva Academy will be sited at Berryfield, next to the school's existing playing fields. While the new Lornshill Academy is being built behind the existing building.
The project will receive an annual contribution of £200,000 from the Scottish Executive' School Estate fund, plus an additional revenue support award of £3.43 million a year.
The Council has injected £16.35 milion into the scheme using capital receipts and contributions
A 1% increase on council tax bills from 2007 will contribute to the project costs along with the amounts currently spent on keeping the secondary schools open (janitors, cleaning etc).
The current Alloa and Alva Academies sites are now for sale, details of which can be found at the bottom of this page.

School Sites for Sale
As significant progress is being made on the new secondary school buildings, Clackmannanshire Council has appointed Edinburgh-based property consultants DTZ to sell the Alloa and Alva Academies sites.
These are currently being marketed as prime residential development opportunities. Proceeds from the sale will go towards supporting the Council's new schools initiative. The whole of the Alva site isn't being marketed - in particular the pool and sports centre are excluded from the sale. A proportion of land is also being retained around Claremont Primary School to be used as playing fields.
The sites are being offered for sale separately and individual planning briefs offering guidance to interested parties have been prepared by TPS Planning Consultants in conjunction with the Council's Planning Department.
DTZ has begun its national marketing campaign with a closing date for bids set for 15th May 2008.
