Primary PE and Physical Activity team

This innovative project is unique to Clackmannanshire and the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, a dedicated team of PE teachers deliver 1.5 hours of quality PE to every primary school pupil regardless of which school they attend. The primary PE team have a planned and balanced programme of activities appropriate to each pupils’ age and ability. The team deliver the Clackmannanshire Primary PE Plan.

Pupils in P1, 2 and 3 get co-ordination and movement skills called Basic Moves. Clackmannanshire is the only place in Scotland where every pupil receives this new form of training. The Basic Moves allows children to gain physical skills in a non competitive and inclusive setting which prepare them for more complex sports skills.

Pupils in P4 and 5 receive swimming, football, golf and basketball and the opportunity to participate in sports festivals. P6 and 7 pupils get outdoor activity, rugby, football, fitness, athletics and racket sports and the opportunity to compete. All P7 pupils get the chance to participate in a transition project with emphasis on sport at their appropriate secondary school.

All pupils in all classes receive gymnastics, dance and social dance.
