School Breakfasts  Bookmark and Share

Bowl of cerealA breakfast service is provided in the Secondary Schools Support Service and in ten primary schools:

The service is available free of charge to those children registered to free school meals. All other children can have a breakfast for 75p (2009/10 academic session). Generally, the service starts 30 minutes before the start of the normal school day.

The primary school breakfast comprises:

  • Tea, semi skimmed milk or fresh water
  • A piece of fresh fruit or a glass of fresh, unsweetened apple or orange juice
  • Cereal with semi skimmed milk. There is a choice of three cereals.
  • Toast or crusty bread with spread and a choice of jam or "Dairylea" cheese.
