School Clothing Grants

Grants to assist with the purchase of clothing for school are available to school aged pupils whose parents are in receipt of Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance (Income Based) or Child Tax Credit (but not where Working Tax Credit is paid) where the annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £15575 and attend a primary, secondary or special school within Clackmannanshire.

Children within families who receive support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 may also be entitled.

If you are entitled to a school clothing grant for your child, you are also entitled to free school meals. In fact, you can apply for both using the same application form (subject to application time periods). Even if your child doesn't take a school lunch, registering entitlement to free school meals entitles your child to free milk at morning break and free breakfast (in participating schools).

Application forms are available from CAP offices or in Lime Tree House. You can also view or download a School Clothing Grant and Free School Meals application form from this page.

On completion, the form should be taken to Lime Tree House or you local CAP Office for verification. When submitting an application, proof of income will be required (please refer to the notes in Section 3 of the application form). Please note that you must be in receipt of the qualifying benefits for 5 weeks before a School Clothing Grant payment can be made.

The payment for this grant is made directly into your bank account. In order to pay your grant directly into your bank account you will need to complete a School Clothing Grant BACS application form. On average your application will take 3 weeks to process. If you have a Post Office Account payment will be made by cheque. You can take your cheque to the Bank of Scotland in Mar Street, Alloa for cashing. You should also take some evidence of your identify for instance your driving licence, your passport or a utility bill.

Please note that application for school clothing grants can only be made for the period between the end of the current school session in June and 31st December of the same year. Applications for free school meals can be made at any time, but awards cannot be backdated.
