The Primary Schools' Support Service (PSSS) is located within the Park Primary Campus. Our service adopts an holistic approach to individual needs and delivers a quality service to pupils, parents and all primary schools within the region.
The multi-disciplinary team managed by Sarah Anderson, Acting Depute Headteacher includes teaching staff, support workers, supervisory assistants and home school liaison as well as management and administration onsite. The team have created a warm, welcoming atmosphere where everyone is equally valued and an open, caring and stimulating climate is fostered.
Flexible and responsive methods are utilised within the service to support primary school aged children who experience a range of additional support needs.
The focus is the proactive support for primary aged pupils to maintain their mainstream placements. This is carried out using a continuum of support methods. The work carried out follows the principals of restorative practices.
A limited number of places are provided within the support base to support pupils and facilitate their return to mainstream schools. Such pupils are identified through the staged intervention process and places are allocated through the inter-agency Admission and Monitoring Group.
