All staff work closely with parents to provide a quality service to meet the needs of all aspects of the child's development in accordance with National Guidelines.

The school values the resources and expertise in the wider community and when at all possible we extend the learning environment to the wider community - leisure facilities, library, garden centre, ski centre, local shops, supermarkets, travel agents, churches, registrars, Gartmorn Dam, woollen mills, swimming.

Children with additional needs are included in the school community with access to specialist support from associated agencies including Psychological Services, Social Services, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy, health visitors, specialised teachers for hearing and visually impaired.

The school has an active Parent Staff Association who meet monthly. In addition to this there are regular meetings of parents working groups and helpers to be found around the nursery.

Families may borrow a range of resources for use in the home. These include story sacks, discovery boxes, Sauchie explorers, lending library and physical activity back packs. Staff have developed all of these to further expand opportunities for families to share in the children's learning.

The school has excellent outdoor facilities providing for the children physical development and environmental awareness. We are also involved in the pre-five active start programme of physical activities.

We currently hold the ECO schools silver award level and are in the process of applying for full green flag accreditation.

We have also been accredited an enhanced Level 2 Health Promoting School and we are an accredited Cooksafe Nursery.

A full programme of tooth brushing is in place in conjunction with the promotion of dental hygiene and we are about to become involved in the extended Childsmile programme.

A monthly drop-in service is also available for parents should they wish to see a health visitor, pre-school psychologist or speech and language therapist for an informal meeting.
