St Serf's Primary School is one of four primary schools that serves the village of Tullibody. The school is pleasantly situated in the north-west of the village with open views to the Ochil Hills. St Serf's is a co-educational and non-denominational primary school.

St. Serf's Primary SchoolSt Serf's Primary School was built in 1953. It has very good accommodation consisting of seven classrooms, an assembly/dining hall, a general purpose room, an amply stocked library, a well resources ICT suite, a learning support room, parents' room, meeting room and office spaces. The school has extensive grounds, including tarmac playgrounds, grass playing fields and green spaces. A controlled door entry system has been installed and appropriate security procedures are in place.
At St Serf's Primary School we aim to ensure that each child achieves their potential by providing the highest standards of learning and teaching. We aim to develop an ethos where all children feel safe and secure, and consideration, respect and tolerance of others is given a high priority. These aims are summed up in our school motto, 'Always be the best that you can be'.

St Serf's Primary School provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils. The curriculum follows the 5-14 National Guidelines, as do most schools in Scotland. This covers language, mathematics, environmental studies, expressive arts, religious and moral education, ICT and personal social and health education. Programmes of study are in place for almost all curriculum areas and these promote progression and continuity in pupils' learning.

Throughout the year, our pupils participate in many sporting activities and events, such as local rugby, football, cross-country and athletics championships. P4 and P5 attend swimming lessons and P6 receive ski-ing instruction. During the summer term, P7 take part in a residential weekend at an outdoor education centre. A small number of pupils receive instrumental tuition provided by visiting tutors. We also offer after-school and lunchtime clubs in a wide range of areas such as football, gymnastics, badminton, dance, computers, cycling proficiency, playground games and art & craft.

St Serf's Primary School has a democratically elected Pupil Council. In consultation with all classes, the Pupil Council has produced a School Improvement Plan to direct its work. This session the Pupil Council has taken a lead role in improving class libraries, standards of handwriting and lunchtime arrangements. We also have an active Eco Committee and we have gained our first Green Flag. The Eco Committee is very active and promotes 'reduce, reuse and recycle', runs litter campaigns and takes responsibility for playground developments. They have purchased new outdoor play equipment, painted two beautiful murals, developed a quiet area with seating and established a small garden at the entrance to the school.

Positive partnerships are in place with parents who are encouraged to contact the school whenever they wish. Workshops for parents create opportunities for them to become more involved in their child's learning and development, and each year an Open Day and Focus Week is held. We run a successful Parent Helper Scheme. We have a Parent Council which supports the life and work of the school by organising a range of social and fundraising events. The Parent Council also arranges meetings to address issues such as road safety.

St Serf's Primary School works closely with our neighbouring nursery school, Ladywell, and each year we run a successful Buddy Club which pairs our P7 pupils with our new intake of P1 pupils. We have a good relationship and clear transitions arrangements with our associated secondary school, Lornshill Academy. Effective links are also maintained within the local community, in particular, St Serf's Church, our Community PC and senior citizens resident nearby.

We are proud at St Serf's Primary School. Pupils and staff identify strongly with the school and are pleased to be associated with it. We have very high expectations of work and behaviour, and an ethos of achievement is promoted in all that we do.
