Tower Nursery School is situated in the South East of Alloa.
Tower Nursery School takes children from the surrounding area but can take children from the whole of the town, which has a population of approximately 12,500. Alloa itself is central and is around 45 minutes drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow.
This vibrant community nursery school is housed in an attractive purpose built building and it offers a high quality of flexible service, half day and full day places and extended half day places tailored to meet the needs of the children and their families
The staff includes the headteacher, nursery teacher, 3 Early Years Workers, one of whom is a senior Early Years Worker, 2 Supervisory Assistants, an Administrator and a Caretaker who undertakes cleaning duties.
The work of the school is supported by other Council Services including Speech and Language Therapy, Psychological Services, Library Services, Environmental Services and the Health Service. The school works in partnership with the Sports Development Service and offers a pre school activity programme. We are an Eco friendly school and in 2008 received our 2nd Green Flag. We promote healthy eating and lifestyles and have obtained the statue of HP school level 2 enhanced.
Parents/carers are always welcome in the school and play a very active role in the daily operation of the nursery and in its extra activities. Classes are available to extend parents' interests. All staff make a positive contribution to the general ethos of the school where children are encouraged to develop their potential within a supportive and caring environment and where the needs of families are recognised and support provided from within the school or co-ordinated by the school from within the network of services in the area.
The school gives staff training and development a high priority. We liaise with Forth Valley Colleges in providing placements for childcare and education students; we also provide placements for teaching students. The staff support work placements for students from secondary schools. All staff are involved in ongoing training.
We work with the voluntary and inter generational volunteers and welcome the contribution of dedicated helpers.
We provide a toy library for parents and carers in Alloa. This is a free service and operates on Wednesday from 11am to 2pm.
