Assessing And Processing Application Proposals
Search, View and Comment on Planning Applications online here
The Council pubblishes an electronic weekly list of applications received and decided in the preceding 7 days. This is contained in the Services to Communities Bulletin. The changes in legislation now require the publication of a list of extant applications, i.e. a list of applications that we have still to decide on. This is now available online.
We also maintain the statutory Planning Register, which contains public information on decided and undecided applications.
The Council has two months to determine an application for planning permission for all local developments, and four months for a major development.
The responsibility for the assessment of all planning applications is delegated initially to individual case officers, who in turn will examine proposals, visit the site of the development and proceed to prepare a Report of Handling for each application. Every report contains specific information, including:
- A summary of the main issues raised in any representations that have been submitted, and a commentary on their relevance to planning and the recommendation from the Service.
- Details of those parties consulted by the Council on the application and a summary of the responses we receive.
- A summary of the many issues raised in documents provided by the applicant in support of the proposed development.
- A summary of the terms of any planning obligation in relation to the grant of planning permission for the proposed development (a Section 75 Agreement).
- Details of the provisions of the development plan and any other material considerations which we have had regard to in assessing and determining the application.
