Freedom of Information Publication Scheme 

The Council is keen to ensure that the wealth of information it holds can be easily shared appropriately with those interested. As part of that, we have prepared a Publication Scheme - effectively a document that provides an index to the type of information collected and used by Services across the Council.

The Scheme includes a wide range of information - almost everything from policy documentation to Council papers supporting and reporting the decision making process. As a result, a significant amount of information is readily available to enquirers, either directly over the web site (www.clacksweb.org) or on request.

The Freedom of Information Act affects all public authorities, including Clackmannanshire Council. The Publication Scheme is a large, but straightforward document describing:

• What information the Council makes available
• What format the information is available in
• Where to make contact for access to the information we hold
• Whether or not a charge will be made for the information

We have recently completely re-drafted our Publication Scheme, and have submitted it for approval. This new draft Scheme is much more comprehensive than its predecessor, so we have made it available now (check the link below). We will of course update it to reflect any changes necessary once the scheme is approved.

For ease of access, the Scheme is presented in two parts - the narrative section that describes the Council's approach to freedom of information, and a large table detailing the types of information available.

Once approved, the complete Publication will also available in paper format at the Councils main office at Greenfield, Alloa, as well as local libraries. The Council will make paper copies available on request to Community Councils or other community organisations to help them assist citizens who are unable to visit the council offices.

If you request a copy of the Publication Scheme via post, then the Council will endeavour to send the free copy to you within three working days of the receipt of your request..
