Licenses - Business
Licences for businesses are issued under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982. Administration and Legal Services issues and enforces licences for a wide range of functions. Each application is considered carefully. Where appropriate, there will be consultation with interested parties. Once a licence has been issued, officers will monitor and enforce the conditions.
- Market Operator
A Licence is required for the operation on an open air market or car boot sale. There are Licence exemptions which are explained. - Metal Dealers
A Licence is required for businesses that consist wholly or partly for buying and selling scrap metal. - Private Hire Operators
Businesses with private hire vehicles need to have a current Licence to allow them to accept pre-arranged bookings. - Second Hand Dealers
A Licence is required to operate a business dealing in second hand goods. License exemptions are detailed within the site. - Street Trader
A Licence is required to allow trading from a vehicle, kiosk or moveable stall or for stationary trading where planning consent has been granted. A temporary Street Traders Licence is granted through completion of the same form. - Substitution of a Vehicle
Private Hire or Taxi - Taxi / Private Hire Drivers
Drivers of taxi vehicles, with no more than eight seats, require to have a current Taxi Licence. Businesses with private hire vehicles need to have a current licence to allow them to accept pre-arranged bookings.
