Email form - Minor Roadworks Consent Application

Under Section 56 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, any person, other than a Roads Authority or body covered by the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991, must, before commencing works on a Public Road, obtain the consent of the road's authority. It should be noted that the term 'road' encompasses the carriageway, footways and/or verges of any road and any remote public footpaths or cycle tracks.

From the 1st May 2008 the fee structure for minor roadworks consent permits (to cover inspections by Development Services) is: £100 (currently £96) for works to be executed in a road or £25 for forming a vehicle access. (Works not completed within the dates specified on the permits may be subject to additional charges)
