Addictions Support & Counselling (ASC) Forth Valley - information for services
Forth Valley Alcohol & Drug Partnership has commissioned a 15 month pilot Family Support Service (FSS) for families affected by substance misuse.
The service aims to
- Reduce the harm to family members that arises from substance misuse, and
- promote a recovery approach to families to enable them to regain control over their lives.
The Service offers
- Individual support using a care/recovery plan approach based on a comprehensive assessment of family members' needs,
- access to ASC's Counselling Services for specific identified needs such as bereavement counselling,
- telephone support,
- customised family support work in supporting and working with the same family members,
- initiating, promoting and sustaining networks of local group support for carers,
- promoting links and establishing referral routes between existing Forth Valley specialised family support services,
- encouraging family members to access local and national specialist resources,
- establishing links with local generic carers' groups that can advise and support on financial and practical assistance for carers,
- access to ASC's Community Rehabilitation group work programmes that are designed to help people gain educational, training, volunteering and employment opportunities.
Referrals
The Service is open to anyone living in the Forth Valley area who is directly affected by someone's substance misuse and who is seeking support in coping with such substance misuse.
Referrals can be accepted from any source including self referrals.
Please note that there is no age limit for people contacting FSS although we would not directly work with children. If necessary we would refer children to other organisations who are recognised as having the requisite competencies in child care, for example Signpost Recovery's Time for Us Service.
