Mobile Emergency Care Services (MECS)

The Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS) is a service provided by Social Services of Clackmannanshire Council to enable vulnerable people and their carers to call for help in an emergency at any time, day or night.
This service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Once an assessment has been carried out by a Community Care Team worker to identify if you would benefit from being connected to this service, a Warden will visit you at home to install a unit which is connected through your telephone line. The Warden will also explain how to operate the unit in the event of an emergency.
What will happen after I have requested assistance?
Once you have signalled for help, an operator can speak to you through your unit to establish what the problem is. You do not have to lift your telephone to make contact. A Warden will then call to assist you as soon as possible. Although you may be unable to communicate verbally through your unit, a Warden will still call to assist since the effect of activating a unit will alert a response.
Once a unit is installed, a Warden will visit you occasionally to ensure your equipment is still functioning properly.
In order to request access to this service, you should contact your local Community Care Team.
