Integrated Mental Health Day Service - Beating the Blues
Recommended by NICE guidelines as an option of treatment for those with depression. This is a CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) based treatment programme to assist with the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
It is an easy self-help computer program, preceeded by GP or mental health professional assessment, that lasts for 8 sessions - each being approximately 1 hour long. At the end of each session a handout is printed, tailored to the patient's needs, and a progress report is sent to the GP/referring agent, which includes an alert for suicidal thoughts, if present.
