On the Opening of the Clackmannanshire Bridge

Like a child stretching to maturity
Before our eyes
It now stands strong and proud
As if it has always been.

The current of change wraps itself around its limbs.
A fresh wind brushes against its concrete skin.
Soon it will sing the song of others
Dance to the rhythm of journeys unfolding.

In the distance the Ochils nod their ancient
Heads in approval of the newcomer.

People power named this bridge
Gave direction to their hopes and dreams
Gave notice for the maps to be rewritten.
Signed the welcome book for visitors.

People power named this bridge.
Created their future in the present.
