Introduction

Local Transport Strategies set out how local authorities intend to meet national objectives at a local level and detail actions which will achieve local objectives.Front page of the Local Transport Strategy

The Local Transport Strategy for Clackmannanshire

  • outlines the strategy for the Council’s roads and transportation plans for the next three years
  • looks to how the roads and transportation system will develop in the short and long term
  • acts as support for future roads and transportation improvements
  • sets out measures aimed at providing travel choices for all
  • ensures that job opportunities are not restricted to only those with access to a car

The Local Transport Strategy was approved by the Council on the 19th October 2006. A copy of the strategy can be downloaded from the Publications and documents section below, alternatively paper copies are available at reception in the Council's Kilncraigs building. The Council are now working on the forthcoming local Transport Strategy to cover the period 2010 - 2014.

Public ConsultationStakeholder

The Council have completed the first part of the consultation for the forthcoming Local Transport Strategy, which was made up of three public engagement events and a stakeholder event. Thanks to all who came along and participated. We had three lucky winners for the prize draws held after each event.

Tillicoultry - a sustainable car use goodie bag to a resident in Strachan Crescent, Dollar
Tullibody - a walking goodie bag to a resident in Carseview, Tullibody
Alloa - A sustainable car use goodie bag to a resident in Menteith Court, Alloa

Most residents have also have received a copy of the Local Transport Strategy Survey, again thanks to all who have completed and returned these. The prize draw for the camera took place in September and was won by a resident in Rodders Grove, Alva.

All the comments and issues raised through these various consultation exercises are now being processed and will be used to update the Local Transport Strategy for the next five years.

Details of our past, current and planned consultations can be found in our Consultation Database.

Supporting Documents

The Local Transport Strategy contains three documents and can be viewed or downloaded from this page:

  • Road Traffic Reduction Report
  • Transport and the Environment Report
  • Road Safety Plan

Strategic Environmental Assessment

Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a systematic process for identifying, predicting, reporting and mitigating the environmental impacts of certain proposed plans and programmes. The Local Transport Strategy falls under the EU Directive 2001/42/EC and the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes (Scotland) Regulations 2004. Therefore the Local Transport Strategy must be assessed for environmental effects.

The Clackmannanshire Strategic Environmental Assessment reports for the current Local Transport Strategy can be downloaded from this page. Responses from the consultation authorities are also available.
