Road Safety

In June 2009 The Scottish Government published 'Go Safe on Scotland's Roads - It's Everyone's Responsibility'. This document sets out the Scottish Road Safety Framework to 2020 and a vision that there will be "A steady reduction in the numbers of those killed and those seriously injured, with the ultimate vision of a future where no-one is killed on Scotland's roads, and the injury rate is much reduced." The Scottish Road Safety Targets are set against a baseline of the average Scottish figures for 2004 - 2008. Clackmannanshire Council has made good progress in helping to achieve these, the most recent road safety figures are shown in the table below.

Street Lighting

The Council has responsibility for maintaining the areas 9000 lighting columns. The Council aims to respond to lamp outages within 5 working days. The table below shows the current performance indicators for street lighting.

Road Maintenance

In 2010, Audit Scotland agreed a targeted approach to following-up a small number of performance audit reports each year to promote local impact. One of the reports selected for targeted follow-up in 2011/12 is Maintaining Scotland's roads: a follow-up report, which was published in February 2011.

The aim of the follow-up work was to assess the progress the Council has made in improving its management of road maintenance, focusing on road asset management planning, performance management and maximising value for money.
